Urban Ed Academy (Saturday Academy)
Founded in 2010, we provide educational services that help 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students succeed academically and become knowledgeable and productive citizens with the support of their parents, families, schools and communities. Urban Ed Academy is committed to improving the quality of life in communities of color in San Francisco by eliminating the achievement gap in education.
No greater crisis exists in communities of color than the plight of black and brown boys. These boys are diagnosed with ADHD three times more than girls, and they lose five times the amount of educational hours due to disciplinary actions. Often times, these boys live in communities without male role models or a clear path for future success. In fact, there are whole neighborhoods in which few men are gainfully employed or have high school diplomas.
Urban Ed Academy operates with a belief in the strength of parental and community involvement in education to eliminate the academic achievement gap. Better parents produce better communities, better schools and better students!
